New York State passes nation's first-ever paid prenatal leave policy

New York State has passed the first-ever paid prenatal leave policy into law.

Starting in 2025, the state will mandate employers to have a separate sick leave bank for prenatal care, ensuring pregnancy does not jeopardize employment.

Employees will be able to receive an additional 20 hours of paid sick leave for prenatal care in addition to existing sick leave.

Hochul also expanded Medicaid coverage for certain telemedicine procedures.
