Case 21: Ms. P fled from domestic violence last year, managing to find new housing for her five children and a grandchild she is raising. But a fire at the new place destroyed many of the family's belongings, including Ms. P's car. Her hours at work are fluctuating as she struggles to manage the fallout from the fire and care for the kids, one of whom just spent some time in jail. Her utility bills are growing, and the disconnection notices have begun arriving. Some help with the bills, or shoes for the kids, could help brighten the season for Ms. P's family.
Case 22: Ms. C is a caring, hopeful and loving mother to seven children, from age 1 to 17. She and her husband have had a very difficult year. It started when her husband suffered a stroke and was unable to work. Then, Ms. C began to struggle with depression and went on disability. In addition to that, Ms. C's oldest child, a 17-year-old boy, was assaulted at school and hospitalized after a suicide attempt. Ms. C has fallen behind on bills as her family faces mounting medical bills and legal fees. Her husband requires ongoing therapy due to his stroke. Ms. C is worried about making ends meet and said that any support for the holidays would be "a relief and a blessing of peace and more stability."

Case 23: Two words describe Ms. S: strong and resilient. Her story is a testament to those attributes because, in her own words, she "took a tragedy and turned it to triumph" when she conquered her drug addiction. Ms. S credits her children and fiancé as motivation during the times she felt like giving up. Her family of 12 has a lot of love to give, but they do not have enough space to be comfortable while living in a two-bedroom home. Ms. S struggles to pay rent and utilities, and lives with the pressure of having to juggle bills and providing for her children's needs. Ms. S puts her children, ranging from 20 to 6 years old, first but worries about keeping up with bills. Any help would add joy and Ms. S is truly thankful for the opportunity.
Case 24: Ms. J believes she is a "very special parent," and her caseworkers agree. Ms. J has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. She works full-time while raising her two daughters, ages 14 and 11, and both girls have mental health issues. Ms. J is struggling to keep up with utilities and rent while also providing the basics for her family. She knows she won't be able to afford Christmas presents this year. Gift cards, household items and gifts would lighten the load for Ms. J and her family this Christmas.
