The Colorado Buffaloes came in at No. 17 in the updated College Football Playoff Rankings. However, while Colorado has a new ranking, it is safe to say that ESPN's FPI does not favor Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.
Colorado enters Week 12 at 7-2 after a 41-27 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Travis Hunter put up more stellar numbers, finishing with 99 receiving yards and one touchdown. Shedeur Sanders had 291 passing yards, 16 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns.
Colorado's defense forced Texas Tech's offense into three turnovers. Defensive backs Shilo Sanders and Cam'Ron Silmon-Crag recovered one fumble each, and linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green intercepted Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton. Texas Tech's offense was held to 275 passing yards and 113 rushing yards by the Buffaloes' defense.
It has been a long time since Colorado competed for national championships, let alone won them. The Buffaloes' last 11-win season was in 1994, and Colorado won one national title in program history in 1990 under former head coach Bill McCartney.
ESPN's FPI does not believe Colorado will snap its national title drought this season, at least. It gave Coach Prime and company a 0.5% chance of winning this season's national championship.
Colorado is currently in second place in the Big 12 and has the Utah Utes, Kansas Jayhawks, and Oklahoma State Cowboys left on its regular-season schedule.
Colorado faces Utah this Saturday at noon ET on Fox.
