WASHINGTON (TNND) -- As President-elect Donald Trump continues to make his Cabinet picks and other high ranking positions, his most recent selection is Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence.
Gabbard was formerly a Democratic congresswoman before turning Republican and supporting Trump on his most recent campaign for president.
She was also previously a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. As Director of National Intelligence, Gabbard will oversee America's 17 intelligence agencies.
President-elect Trump made an official statement announcing Gabbard's selection.
"For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans. As a former Candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties - She is now a proud Republican!"
Gabbard joined Trump's campaign late in 2024. She was previously rumored to be selected for Defense Secretary or CIA director.
"I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength."
