Henderson woman talks about recovering from gunshot wounds

HENDERSON, N.C. (WNCN) -- A Henderson woman is thankful to be alive after being one of five people who were shot multiple times nearly two months ago at a family gathering.

Kieshanna Norman is still replaying getting shot outside Tiffany's of Henderson. She said a family celebration for her cousin's husband brought her to the event in September.

"It was a beautiful time," she said. "Everybody was having fun and then just out of nowhere, a lot of commotion happened. We hear people arguing and I see my cousin run in the street. I run after him."

Norman said that's when they both were shot here outside of Tiffany's on Garnett Street. And she wasn't shot once.

"I didn't realize I had been shot until I tried to run and I was stuck," she said. "I look down at my legs and see fatty tissue coming out.

"I was shot four times," Norman said. "Three times in my left leg and once in my right foot."

Norman added she had to be airlifted to Duke Hospital because one bullet nearly hit an artery. She said the helicopter ride to the hospital put a lot into perspective. "I'm scared and thinking what if something happens to me?" she said. "Who's going to take care of my child? Who's going to explain to her that mommy isn't here anymore?"

"It was a terrifying experience," Norman said.

All five people shot during the incident survived.

Henderson police confirmed two arrests on Facebook last month. Norman said one of them is a cousin she was trying to protect.

Earlier this week, Norman posted a GoFundMe to help with bills due to being out of work and recovering.

Henderson police ask that anyone with information on this incident call their station at 252-438-4141 or Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925.
