On Monday night, the annual Baseball Writers' Association of America's awards finalists were announced on MLB Network. Several Milwaukee Brewers were among those recognized for the accolades.
The categories for the awards announced included Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, Cy Young, and Most Valuable Player.
Manager Pat Murphy was the first among the team to be recognized. His running in the NL Manager of the Year Award is well deserved after the Brewers secured a 93-69 record and another division title. His competition is Carlos Mendoza of the Mets and Mike Shildt of the Padres, though Murphy has to be considered the favorite.
Jackson Chourio is the other Brewers nominee up for an award in the NL Rookie of the Year race. After his stellar debut season, fresh off an offseason extension before playing a major league game, his performance will be measured against San Diego's Jackson Merrill and Pittsburgh's Paul Skenes. Chourio's set to be a centerpiece of the Brewers franchise for years after tallying 21 home runs and 22 steals in his age-20 season.
The winners of the awards will be announced throughout the course of next week, beginning with the Rookie of the Year Award on Monday, Nov. 18. The full schedule and list of finalists can be seen here.
