Emergency services said the blaze had broken out in the early hours of the morning. The cause was still being investigated.
A fire tore through a retirement home in northern Spain on Friday, killing at least 10 people, emergency services said.
The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning at the facility in the town of Villafranca de Ebro, in the northern region of Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, a member of the regional government, told reporters.
Two more people were taken to a hospital in critical condition, he added.
Eighty-two people were inside the facility when the fire broke out, Mr. Beltrán said.
The authorities do not yet know what caused the fire, Volga Ramírez, the town's mayor told Spain's national radio station, RNE. By 5 a.m., all of the victims had been evacuated and the bodies removed, the mayor added.
This is a developing story.
