St Kilda are considering splitting one of their two top 10 draft picks in order to get three picks in the first round.
The Saints hold picks 7 and 8 in Wednesday night's first round after being given the latter selection as compensation for losing Josh Battle to Hawthorn.
With the 2024 draft pool considered to be one of the deepest in memory, St Kilda could opt to trade one of their early selections to get three players on the first night.
Prime candidates to be involved in a St Kilda pick split include GWS, who could send picks 15 and 16 to the Saints, while Richmond also have plenty of first round capital.
AFL DRAFT NEWS:
"We're open to [trading early draft picks], to be honest, both picks on the night and our future picks as well," St Kilda football boss Dave Misson said on Gettable.
"We've had some clubs come with interest with regard to in splitting our pick, probably pick eight in particular, but we really need to see how things play out on the night and make a decision on the night.
"We won't be going in with any preconceived ideas about splitting picks and future picks. We'll just see how things fall in the first few selections."
However, Misson dismissed the idea that the Saints could draft for a particular position, claiming the club will select the best available at the time of their selection.
"We're probably hoping there's a couple of mids but we're looking at taking the best players at seven and eight," he said.
"We've got some pretty important parameters that we assess players on, based on our game plan, and the players we're looking to pick in the draft need to satisfy those parameters.
"We'll obviously look at talent outside those parameters as well, but it's pretty important that we think that they're going to fit within our game plan and the way we want to play."
