Prayers are pouring in for a college campus after a mass stabbing this weekend.
An "angry" ex-college student, reportedly bothered by his test scores and low internship pay, reportedly went on a stabbing spree on campus. The 21-year-old former student reportedly killed eight of his former classmates and injured 17 others.
The mass stabbing reportedly took place at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in the city of Yixing, Jiangsu province. The attack reportedly happened shortly after 6 p.m. local time.
From CNN:
A suspect detained at the scene was a recent graduate who was motivated by "failing (an) exam, not receiving a graduation certificate, and dissatisfaction with internship compensation," police said. An investigation is ongoing.
The attack is the latest mass casualty incident to hit China -- a country of 1.4 billion that has one of the lowest rates of violent crime in the world, partly due to its strict gun controls and powerful mass surveillance.
Prayers are pouring in for the campus on Sunday afternoon, following the tragedy.
"Awful," one fan wrote.
"Prayers for our brothers and sisters in China," one fan added.
"Mental Health is serious issue," one fan added.
Our thoughts are with everyone in China during this difficult time. The country has had to deal with a series of tragic events in recent weeks, including a mass stabbing on a college campus and previously a mass car accident.
May the victims rest in peace.
