WEDDINGTON, N.C. (WBTV) - A house explosion in Weddington injured two people on Sunday morning, according to the Union County Fire Marshal.

Multiple calls came in for an explosion on Steeple Chase Circle just before 9 a.m.

The Fire Marshal stated that the house is a total loss and that there was no fire.

Details on what caused the explosion are unknown at this time.

Officials state that a man was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center in critical condition. While a woman was taken to a local hospital and her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The Union County Sheriff's Office said the explosion was felt countywide.
