Casino authorities award more than $3 million to Quad-Cities nonprofits

The Scott County Regional Authority reached a milestone this year.

With $1.3 million awarded in grants to 45 nonprofit projects this fall, the Scott County Regional Authority reached over $100 million given to nonprofits since its inception.

The authority is the license-holder for the Isle Casino in Bettendorf, and distributes grants from gaming receipts as required by state law to Quad-Cities nonprofits twice a year.

The Regional Development Authority, which holds the license for Rhythm City Casino in Davenport and likewise distributes grants twice a year, awarded $1.9 million in grants to 69 projects this fall.

The Regional Development Authority gave about $425,000 as part of its reoccurring grants, including to the Figge Art Museum for its light sculpture, the city of Bettendorf for The Landing, the city of Davenport for riverfront lighting, Vera French Foundation for affordable housing at Carols Village Gardens and the Center for Active Seniors, Inc., as an operations bridge.
