John Stamos wears bald cap in 'solidarity' with Dave Coulier, who has cancer

Decades after TV sitcom Full House ended, costars Dave Coulier and John Stamos are more like family. They're so close, in fact, that Stamos covered up the hair that his character, Uncle Jesse, once loved so much.

"Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier," Stamos posted on Instagram Monday. "You're handling this with so much strength and positivity -- it's inspiring. I know you're going to get through this, and I'm proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you."

He added a note that Coulier's wife, Melissa is "the most wonderfulest - your true life line!"

Coulier revealed last week that he has been diagnosed with a "very aggressive" form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He told PEOPLE that had sought medical attention after complications from an upper respiratory infection last month cause his lymph nodes to swell. After testing, the prognosis was grim.

"Three days later, my doctors called me back and they said, 'We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and it's called B cell and it's very aggressive,'" Coulier said. "I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming. This has been a really fast roller coaster ride of a journey."

The good news is that the testing showed what doctors wanted and his team has now come up with a treatment plan. He explained that he had already begun chemotherapy and that he'd shaved his head before he could lose his hair.

When Coulier made his announcement, Stamos quickly offered his support.

"My brother from day 1," he posted alongside photos of the two over the years. "Love you @dcoulier and I'll be by your side through it all."

Coulier played Joey Gladstone, and Stamos portrayed Jesse Katsopolis on the family sitcom, which aired for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995. On the show, the two men lived with Danny Tanner (the late Bob Saget) to raise Danny's daughters D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Michelle (Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen). Coulier, Stamos, Cameron Bure, and Sweetin all reprised their roles for revival Fuller House, which aired from 2016 to 2020.
