The summer of 2023 was largely defined in the pop culture by "Barbenheimer," the portmanteau of Barbie and Oppenheimer, created when both blockbuster films hit theaters on July 21, 2023. What started as an accident that would theoretically hurt sales to both movies, ended up as an international phenomenon that launched both movies to billion dollar worldwide grosses. To be in the zeitgeist was to see both movies, but many made a whole day of it, booking a double feature of the two movies and even dressing up for the festivities. Movie theaters in late July were full of squads donning all black to watch Christopher Nolan's atomic bomb-themed biopic and then returning to the theaters in pink for Greta Gerwig's comedy based on the iconic toy. Now, over a year later, a new pair of movies are trying to replicate that success. After both moving their dates several times, now both Gladiator II and Wicked: Part One will be heading to theaters on the same day this November.
