Hunter Degroat was found unresponsive at a Fulton County residence in Johnstown on the afternoon of Aug. 9, 2022, according to New York State Police. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Three years would go by with no updates in the case, until Thursday, Feb. 20, when State Police revealed that Hunter died from blunt force trauma to his head, and officially ruled the death a homicide.
The death certificate, issued by pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica, lists the cause of Hunter's death as skull fracture, bleeding in and around the brain, and swelling of the brain, police said.
Additional details, including where Hunter was found and who he was living with at the time of his death, were not immediately available.
