Berkeley County's Red Bank Road Gravity Sewer Project in Goose Creek has progressed in recent weeks. The tentative completion date is April 2025.
The project's goal is to increase sewer capacity and prevent sewer overflows by installing a large gravity sewer main along Red Bank Road between Sunrise Boulevard and Henry E. Brown Jr. Boulevard.
After experiencing significant delays, the county has hired new contractors, Palmetto Site Works and Sanders Brothers Construction, to complete the project. They are currently removing the old, existing curb line along the Red Bank Road corridor and milling and grading the road along the curb line in preparation for resurfacing the road.
All curbing and milling work is expected to be complete by late February, allowing resurfacing work to begin. Resurfacing is the project's final leg, anticipated to be completed in April.
Construction on the Red Bank Road Gravity Sewer Project began in spring 2022. The project's cost is approximately $13 million.
